 ✔ Apoxyomenus is a classical plaster sculpture depicting an ancient Greek athlete who scrapes his body of sand after sports competitions. The original of this work was made of bronze by the famous sculptor Lysippos and at one time decorated the baths (baths) of Ancient Rome. Subsequently, it was lost, but several copies have survived to this day. The most accurate and detailed marble copy was discovered in the middle of the 19th century during excavations of one of the Roman regions and is now in the collection of the Vatican Museum.

 The ancient Greek historian Pliny considered Apoxyomenos one of the heights of Lysippos' creativity. Another antique plaster statue with a similar plot was made by the master Polycletus, and its original also has not survived to this day. In the best condition of all the bronze copies of this sculpture is Apoxyomenos II-I centuries BC, found in the Adriatic Sea near the coast of Croatia in 1999. Now this work is exhibited in the museum of the city of Mali Lošinj.
