 ✔ Plaster statue of Venus de Medici (Medici) - the original of this work was created in the 1st century BC by an unknown author. It is a copy of an earlier work (by Aphrodite of Cnidus), which was lost. The composition of this Greek sculpture depicts the goddess of love in a fit of shyness, covering her body with her hands as she emerges from the sea foam. At the feet of the Medici Venus is a dolphin, which is another feature of it. The monument was discovered on the ruins of the estate of the Roman emperor Hadrian in Tibura and in the XVII was sent to the collection of the Pope.

 In the second half of the century, this plaster sculpture was acquired by the rulers of Florence - the Medici family, which is why it got its name. From then until today, Venus de Medici has been in the Florentine Uffizi Gallery, one of the oldest museums in Europe. It is noteworthy that in 1803 the statue was captured by Napoleon's troops and taken to the Parisian Louvre, where it was kept until 1815. It is believed that she posed for the unpreserved original of this work.
