 ✔ Venus de Milo is one of the most famous Greek sculptures representing the ancient goddess of love Aphrodite (Venus in the Romans). It was made of white marble in about 130-100 BC and has quite impressive dimensions (height - 2.02 meters). The legendary work was discovered at the beginning of the 19th century on the island of Milos (Greece), which gave it its corresponding name.

 The plaster statue of Venus de Milo belongs to the Venus Pudica style (Aphrodite the Shy) and depicts a young girl, whose lower body is covered with a light robe. A well-known feature of the monument is the absence of both hands, which have never been restored. Also, the statue is distinguished by a very careful drawing of facial features, characteristic of the Hellenistic period of the development of art. In 1821, Venus de Milo was bought especially for the Louvre and has since occupied a special place in the gallery on the first floor of this Parisian museum.
