 ✔ Mercury is a plaster sculpture dedicated to the ancient Roman god of trade. A distinctive feature of his image is the famous helmet with wings and the caduceus wand (a symbol of reconciliation and networking, as opposed to a sword). In ancient Rome, statues of Mercury were very common, they were worshiped by shopkeepers and merchants, asking the deity for an increase in profits. His images were also in great demand in later times. For example, the image of Mercury was repeatedly used in his works by the Florentine sculptor Giambologna.

 In total, he created 4 Greek sculptures of the god of trade, the most famous of them (bronze "Flying Mercury", 1580) is in the National Museum of the Italian city of Bologna. The other three statues adorn the collections of the museums in Florence, Vienna and the Louvre in Paris. A more modern monument to Mercury can be seen in the garden of the Achillion Palace located on the Greek island of Corfu.
