✔ The Bound Slave is one of the most famous works of the genius Italian Michelangelo Buonarroti. Together with another sculpture from this series (The Dying Slave), it was created as a monument for the tomb of Pope Julius II. According to the creator's plan, slaves were to mean the lands conquered by this ruler. The work on the plaster statue was carried out during 1513-1516, but as a result it never became a decoration of the tombstone, and instead, Michelangelo presented it to his friend, Roberto Strozzi. Further, she ended up in the Louvre, where she occupies a worthy place to this day.
Another title of this work is the Rebel Slave, as it depicts a slave in his quest for freedom. This is a very massive sculpture made of plaster, the height of which is 229 cm. It has a very deep meaning and subtext, walking around the monument, you can see how the stone accurately reflects the impulses of the prisoner and the differences from complete impotence to the peak of his power.
